Back in the Game...
New poster here. I just purchased my 16yo son his first Ranger, and lets be honest, it was to get me back into the game. Anyways, it is a 2009 XLT 4x4 4.0L Supercab automatic. It looks pretty good and is very tight. I don't have any real buyer's remorse about it, however, I didn't stand in the bed. The only 'significant' rust on this is that the front of the bed is detached from the front wall of the bed. Pretty much where rain water would settle. I noticed under the bed when looking at it that it did have some rust and I was thinking about how to shore it up. I thought it was on some cross-beam the bed has. I did look under the bed liner and there wasn't any rust on the back three quarters of the bed. This satisfied me that the rust was sort of insignificant. But I was wrong and just standing on the bed would have told me differently. There is a gaping hole (an inch/ inch and a half) there.
Replacing the bed entirely is not an option at this time, but, what are my options? How can I sure up this area of the bed? I would like to do to it before the wife finds out... HA!
BTW, this is my third Ranger overall.... '89 4x2, '98 4x4, and now a '09 4x4.
Thanks.
