Ford is replacing my 2017 Platinum 250 6.7. I am ordering a 2019 this morning. I am wondering if I should get the rapid supplemental heat? I’m in Arkansas and it doesn’t get too cold but my 2017 takes forever to warm up. Is it really worth it?
I’m also leaning towards not getting the 5th wheel prep....I’ve never towed a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer. I’ve heard it ups resale, but I haven’t seen that option anywhere on kbb or nada sites. I have it on mine currently, but I see no need for it.
I say get both. It's a Platinum, they're supposed to have all the bells and whistles. Having had a 6.7 you know they take a while to warm up so the RSH is a nice feature. You said you never towed a 5th wheel or gooseneck but if you ever do the 5th wheel prep is super handy and a very neatly done package. What about the block heater? Another $90 just in case....
I have the rapid-heat supplemental heater in my truck. I really don't notice it being anything special, but I do park in a heated garage. If you park outside it would probably be worth the money. What is $250 when you already spending 70k. As for the 5th wheel prep, why would you order it if you have no intentions on using it? It might help you sell it, but I doubt you would recover the full $500 that it cost initially.
The fifth wheel prep deducts from your cargo capacity. Since you're a 250 with the 6.7L you need all the help you can get with cargo capacity. On an F-350 I would say get it.

What say y’all???
I’m in Florida and I just ordered a 2019 F350 with the Rapid Cabin heater. It’s cheap and with my current 2017 F350 the very few times it was cold enough to use heat it took toooo long to heat up.
I didn't order engine block heater heater because I’d never plug it in.
Also consider the possibility of if you ever move to a colder climate. If you trade the truck in Arkansas, I doubt you'll ever redeem the value because nobody cares about a block heater, supplemental heater, or snowplow package. But if you move down the road to another state, it might become all worth it.
Myself, up North in central NH, I use all of those. Last winter around New Year's we had about 10 straight days of temps dropping well below zero. When it gets that cold, even the supplemental heater does very little to help. Here's a little screenshot from my 2017 Super Duty from last winter reminding you of why you like Arkansas, lol:
No thanks on the -21 temps!!! It’s hot and humid here in the summer, but I ain’t getting out in that cold!!!
I’ve had an engine block heater on my hd pickups for the last 5 years and have plugged in exactly 0 times!!
Im doing MSRP for MSRP swap on the new one and I’m trying to get it as close to my 2017 as possible is why I’m not clicking every box on the builder. I’m at a little less than $900 difference if I remove the 5th and gooseneck hitch. Not bad for a 2 year newer truck. Resale values matter to me because I trade often(before 36k). If no big hit, I’m not thinking the hitch is worth anything.

How redundant/unnecessary is that with the heated seats (front and rear)?
