Trans or other issue?

Posted this on another forum but might get a fresh response here. Truck is a 2017 with the 3.5 eco and 10 speed, 4x4. Starting at 40 mph if I accelerate slowly something starts vibrating in the steering wheel and goes away by 55. It will not vibrate unless I am pressing the throttle. No load-no vibration. During the first visit dealer road forced balanced the tires and said all were perfect.
REPEAT: IT WILL ONLY VIBRATE WHILE UNDER LOAD FROM 40 TO 55 WHEN ACCELERATING SLOWLY. The vibration is worse when towing my 4,500 pound boat.
Was told Ford was working on a software update the first 3 times it was in the shop.

Went back to the dealers yesterday. Waited an hour and the head mechanic came out to talk to me. Said there never was a software update coming and all 10 speeds have the same vibration. And as far as they were concerned the case was closed. This kind of bugged me all night so today I went back to the dealer and asked to drive a new truck. New truck was a 4x4 with the 3.5 eco and 10 speed. Tried to duplicate what my truck does but couldnt. The new truck was as smooth as glass.
Went back in and gave them my findings. Now they want to see my truck again next week when their "trans" guy is in. I mentioned to them it might not have anything to do with the trans and no response back.

Any suggestions to pass along to the service manager?

Sounds like you might have a broken or loose motor mount?

The most common speed to feel a steering wheel vibration is 40-60 mph. Nine times out of ten, it's an out of balance wheel.Check the simple things first.

It doesnt vibrate unless under load. That would rule out any issue with tires or wheels. Otherwise why does it quit when I am coasting?
Ties are balanced perfectly via roadforce. Rotating wheels/tires did nothing.

Wish I could answer your questions but I am not a Ford mechanic. Truck is under warranty so it is up to Ford to diagnose. Dealer did call and told me they were keeping the truck overnight and tomorrow are going to borrow a vibration analysis tool and see what they can find.

I wouldn't rule out tires and wheels due to the load/no-load difference. Suspension will behave differently under such circumstances.

Mine (it's a 5.0) has a similar issue when accelerating from about 40 and a zero throttle, i.e picking up speed after coasting. My feeling is that it's the engine stumbling, although maybe the tranny should be kicking down a gear and isn't? There is at least one TSB for the early 5.0 builds, not sure about later ones. Dealer called and told me the analysis equipment indicated the driveshaft was out of round/balance. They ordered a replacement but no eta. Hope this fixes it but time will tell.

Had the new driveshaft installed today. Mechanic called me and told me the vibration is actually worse.

I'm beginning to think if you get one of these trucks with a problem to cut your losses and walk away.

I'll glady do that if Ford offers to buy it back. It is a long drawn out process and I intend to pursue it if push comes to shove. But it takes a lot of service appointments to get their attention.

Dealership kept my car for another 2 days and never called so I called them. Now they are telling me they just ordered a new piece of hi tech equipment for $4,600 that aids in identifying vibration issues. Told the service advisor thats the same thing they told me before. He said no, this was a better piece of equipment and they bought it just for my truck! LOL. So the truck will sit there until the new equipment comes in and they hook it up and see what they found out.
My gut is telling me this will have to go to Ford to pursue a Lemon Law claim. I been keeping detailed notes of who and when I talk to. But I just wished they would fix it.

Wonder if the Harmonic Balanced that's causing a Problem when you put it under a load or Something in the Starter Flywheel or the Transmission Torque Converter Sounds like
something Rotational, And on the driveshaft don't rule that out they should have sent it to a UJoint Specialist Shop to have it balanced properly was the Balance weight on it did they change
the Driveshaft you have to check everything out.
