Backup Sucks
My 2017 f250 backup camera sucks, I have the small screen, no gps. It looks faded and the red yellow and green lines are very faint. Our kia backup camera looks much better. I guess I’ll take it ti Ford next week.

The small screen is low resolution as apposed to the NAV screen. It's working as it should by what you're describing. I have the same one and and it serves its purpose. I have to clean my camera lens often to get the best picture possible.
