I would appreciate any and all information anyone can give me on this block, it's in a '76 F-350 U-Haul and I'm wondering how easily it would work in my '77 F-350 while I have a 460 built. Seems to be a no-brainer, but I've never run across this block series before and I'm having trouble locating info on it. Thanks

The 330 engine is listed in my Motors truck repair manual for medium and HD trucks. I have no idea what "family" the engine belongs in. The engine manifold and other illustrations look like an FE
3.87" bore x 3.50" stroke
7.4:1 compression ratio
144 hp @ 3200rpm
261#ft @ 2400rpm
Thanks guys, this is more info than I could find anywhere. I'm not worried about the mounts or bell housing since I have them with the motor. It says on the motor that it's the same class as the 361/391. I just want to make damn sure this is going to be able to pull my truck around until I'm done building the real motor. Sounds like it should do the job just fine. I can handle doing 0 - 60 in an hour for awhile. Now just to find a power steering bracket for it, lol. Time to hit my junkyards. Thanks again for the timely responses and info.
Thanks, but I have that part covered well. I know all the junkyards and what old fords they have in them within 50 miles, lol. Good thing about working on my own vehicles over the years, I'm sure it won't be a problem. I do however have a question regarding the intake manifold,, anyone know if it's the same as a 460? This 330 has a seized 2-barrel and I want to put a 4-barrel on instead. Luckily the blown 460 I have is the same year motor, lol. I'm just wondering what all will transfer over without any problems, which I always run into anyway.
If the 330 is indeed a FE series the manifolds won't even be close -hehe! The FE engines have a manifold that extends under the valve covers and weighs as much as the rest of the engine (almost). A 4V iron manifold would not be hard to find for an FE tho. An aluminum 4V will be harder to find.
I've given up on the 330, other better options are literally crawling out of the woodwork,,,, Been a Very Good Day . Torque1st or whomever has such control, I no longer need this thread if you'd like to recover the space.
The 330 was used in trucks until 78. There was a Medium Duty MD and a Heavy Duty HD version. The truck heads are different than car heads in that the exhaust crossover is in the center on the truck heads, hence the intakes are also different, so an aluminum intake for a 390 for instance will bolt on but will not work. The 350 U haul trucks had the 330 motor in them until 78. I do not know of any other 350's that had the 330, it was limited to bigger trucks. It is basically a dog of a motor, not enough power for the big trucks. I have a 330 HD 72 vintage, I really don't why, I rather have a 361 or 391 in the 65 F750.
This thread is good info if anyone uses the search function in the future so it will stay right here as good "content".
With a 7.4:1 compression ratio that 330 was a real dog. The 400 with 9:1 in 1971 was a screamer but when they dumped it down to 8.4 in 72 and then 8.0 in 73 on it really turned it into a dog.
I figured as much but thought it wouldn't hurt to let ya know. I've completley given up on the "dog" motors, lol. I was literally beaming walking around this guys yard,,, just too much to even wish for. So very many parts on so many years,,, it's almost criminal. Luckily only almost
