I am just about ready to install eh heater hose to my engine. when I bought the truck, the heater hose came from the right water pump, into the heater box on the firewall and then back to the right head. Is this correct? Nothing in my parts manual or service manual tell me and I do not want to create a hot spot in the enigine by routing to the wrong head. thanks for looking.

 

Actually, it's kind of the other way around. The heater receives hot water from a hose connected to a nipple placed at the top of the right head, and the water is then returned (drawn through the heater via the water pump) to the cooling system at the water pump connection.

 

Thanks Wayne, that makes sense. The water at the head would be hotter and it is pulling heat away from the engine with the circulation as you describe it. The important thing for me to know is that it goes from right head to right water pump.
