Air bag error code 19

Hi guys. I recently purchased a 1999 F250 standard cab with the 5.7 Triton engine. Work trim. Initially it had an annoying series of bells indicating it needed a bulb in the air bag indicator. Sure enough the bulb was missing. After replacing the bulb I realized why the bulb had been taken out. I now don't have the bells ringing, but I do have an air bag error 19, which, I believe on this year indicates an RCM module with a full crash data memory. Checking around this site, it seems that my options are to buy a new unit and have it programmed to my vehicle, or send it to a repair facility to have the error deleted. Two questions. Is the repair of the unit a viable solution, and, the main reason for the thread. Where is this RCM unit located in this vehicle? Thanks in anticipation for your help. Mike.

Thanks for the feedback Chad, but unfortunately I did not understand the sequence that was shown on the diagram. Being new to this forum, and also to Ford products, was probably why the diagram was not clear. I did, in the past, connect an OBD11 tester to the vehicle and there were no codes displayed, if that is any indication to the symptoms. But to go back to my original question. Could you give me the location to the RCM module and advise as to the repair or replacement of the unit. Regards. Mike.

An "OBDII tester" won't read data from the supplemental systems in the truck like the SRS. You'd need an advanced scan tool that has the needed capability.

The presence of an LFC 19 indicates that the airbags had deployed. In that event, any deployed airbag, along with the RCS module, must be replaced.

Since you just acquired this vehicle, you probably should run its VIN though any of the reporting sites (Carfax, etc) and see if there is data there that indicates its involvement in any reported accidents.

Module is up under the center of the instrument panel, roughly where the firewall meets the transmission tunnel.
