Towing for the first time in the Excursion using Livewire.
So we just bought a new 26ft mini lite travel trailer. I have a SCT Live Wire tuner installed and was wondering about the tow tunes. I know there are a couple of towing tunes on the devices, does anyone recommend one over another? Also, with these tunes active, I would assume I still need to use the tow/haul setting as well right?
Given the 6.0 well earned reputation for blowing head gaskets in stock form I would contact the engineer who wrote the program and find out exactly what parameters they alter in the tunes. Personally I would be wary of any that are altering cylinder pressures with changes to injector timing or fueling, but that’s just me ( after having my “bullet proof” 6.0 blow up a few times )

about 90% of the people I hear with headgasket issues are people that are running tuners and custom tunes, bulletproofed or not. I've towed heavy and pulled stumps and never had a problem, and I'm bone stock at 233k with original head bolts. Sure I had oil cooler puncture but I'm not certain that had anything to do with it. Not to say that people aren't fine with them, but I see a lot more people with problems having tuners than not.
