speedo issue

speedo issue
I have a 97 f250 7.3 4x4 and a 96 f250 7.3 4x4 both auto. The 97 speedo was working fine but the 96 speedo would not work had hard shifts and abs light. i checked fuses and replaced vss nothing fixed it. so to see if it was the psom i took the good cluster from the 97 and put it in the 96 it did not fix it. i then put the 97 cluster back into the 97, now that trucks speedo is not working and has hard shifts. i tried unplugging the connectors and plugging it back in multiple times. Please if someone can help please do. Ive searched the speedo issue and have not seen any situation like this with swapping clusters back and forth.
