Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows forsure what model Rancho shock the FX4 comes with? Is it the RS5000, RSX or something totaly different made for the OEM? The only thing I can tell is the plastic molded boot. Thanks
If I recall, the shocks on the FX-4 are not real RANCHOS. I was told that they still retain a FORD part # and are painted to look like RANCHOS. I am sure someone can chime in on this topic??

I doubt Ford could say that they are Rancho shocks without them being made by Rancho,
but . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Rancho is part of Tenneco automotive, which also makes Monroe shocks and a few others. The FX4 shocks could easily be made by the Rancho division of Tenneco, but that does not mean that they are the same Ranchos that you pay $75 in the store. They can easily be an OEM-quality(less) shock supplied to Ford by Rancho.
Probably better than the stock cheap black shocks, but that would not be hard to do.
The shocks on the FX4 are 100% real ranco shocks. The ford part number is for those shocks. Ford buys ranco shocks form them. If you had to replace the shocks say 100k miles form now it would be cheaper to order rancho shocks from a shock place because the ones on the truck have the oem name.
They are not real Rancho shocks. They wording for the Fx package even tells you so but not directly. They are called "Branded" shocks by Ford. They are nothing more than painted shocks to give that aftermarket look.
