Exhaust Tip Question

Trying to decide on chrome pkg or no chrome pkg when i order. I was at a dealership looking at some 2018 trucks and they had a couple there that had aftermarket mods done to them.
One truck had MBRP black painted exhaust tips, At first I thought it was the whole exhaust but wasnt it was just the tips as it clearly had the set screws at the back end of the tips.
The mbrp tip covered all the holes on the stock tip which I think those holes are for some purpose of the exhaust system.
So couple of things
1. Ive done a search and haven't come up with if the holes in the stock pipe have a purpose, and if covering with another tip what the results would be in doing so.
2. Haven't found just the mbrp tips in black for a 2018
3. Did they use chrome mbrp tips and just paint them?

4. And has anyone just painted the stock tips a black color and have it look ok and hold up to the extreme temperature of a regen.

Thanks

Assuming your looking at a diesel. You didn't give much info on the truck. The side holes are supposedly to help extract heat out of the exhaust system especially helpful during a regen when my egt temps climb to over a 1,000 degrees.

Yeah its a diesel. Did a little searching tonight. Its a 'Black Ops' edition truck from tuscany.
at about the 1.22 mark and again at the 2.18 mark

and this one at about the 1.28 mark

and from the tuscany site
Black Ops - tuscany
go to the F250 link and at the bottom under "standard exterior features' -- black powder coated exhaust tip

I noticed that the MBRP exhaust tips had cut outs on the bottom to accommodate the cutouts from Ford. You can see the daylight thru the inside of the tips.

Ha, your right I didn't notice when I looked the first time, guess it was a long day.
So questions remain.
1. Since they say they've been powder coated black, how do you suppose they would hold up the the extreme heat.
2. You suppose they would have any negative impact on the emissions stuff.
3. Has anyone tried just spraying their stock tips with some high heat rattle can stuff and have luck with it working.

In response to questions 1 and 2, the heat shouldn't be high enough at the tip to have any effect on the powder coat. The finish is baked on in an oven anyway. All of the emissions control is done in the "rocket ship" under the truck, so as long as you aren't removing any pipe or sensors, there will be zero effect on your emissions.

Can't really help you with the last question. Mine stay brown on the outside from dirt and mud at my place, and black on the inside from being deleted. I would think that with proper surface prep and a can of engine block paint or grill paint (VHT comes to mind), the rattle can would work.

Painted mine black with bbq pit paint. Its flat black. Only issue is when a rock hits it and it chips. Just touch it up though.

I have the MBRP cat back exhaust section on my 2012 in stainless. I installed it to lose the factory muffler/resonator that was in my opinion dangerously close to to my 5K Airlift bag! Not sure if available yet for the 2018 though or in black.
