Two things I forgot to mention:
- if you get the override switch, the newer models use the less expensive ($35?) one
- make sure you put the switch in a good spot
After a long day of working on the truck doing other things too, I drilled a hole where I thought it would perfect.
Let's just say you won't be getting a replacement lower dash panel anytime soon - they cost $60 and mine took 3+ weeks even after the dealer changed it to an 'emergency order'
Was no emergency, they just got tired of me asking where it was. They are a giant PITA to replace too - need to remove the metal surround below the steering column.
A forstner bit makes a much cleaner hole than the spade bit I used the first time.
Also marked up the diagram so it would be less confusing for me after what I knew would be a long day with sweat covered glasses.
I like to leave the steps down to reduce door dings in crowded parking lots.
Thanks you for the replies, pics, diagrams, etc. Typical to my luck, the company that sent me my steps sent me a set for a freaking Sprinter Van. So, I have ordered the led strips and I will try again when they finally send me the right units.
Sorry about your luck, Ive been pretty lucky with things like that so far haha. FWIW, you could get away with not drilling holes with the MICTUNING led strips. I was totally against drilling holes for the amp lights which led to them falling off not soon after. Plus, as others have already said, the color of the amp lights are blue and they dont match the OEM white exterior accent lighting.

Refused to drill mine also.
Wish they'd fall off LOL... that blue doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the MICTUNING strips in the pictures on here.
Edit: PS sorry about the mixup. Was terrified mine would come bent up like a pretzel with my Irish luck.
Just to confirm the override switch next to the adjustable pedal switch works like a charm?
Thanks man!

Yes sir !
I had the (oops) opportunity to put it anywhere I wanted once the new panel came in and in retrospect I should have put it there to being with.
There is a honeycomb pattern on the back of the panel - can take (EDIT: more) pics of the old one if you like.

Just a note for those that are curious about to extended down the Amp Powerstep ext. bracket drop down 2 inch more. the drop down is easy to install and yes it moves it closer to the ground. The look changes when close instead of it being tight almost hided . it stick down about 1.5 more then before. i was aware of this before installing them. i get some pictures this weekend
I got on eBay but here is the link to Amazon has them also But what it does is I Plug my boards into the end of the splitter and the other end into the OBD2 PLUG since its a pass thru it frees up my OBD2 PLUG hope this helps someone I will also say these boards are way overpriced but I like them much much better than the factory boards they come out farther and lower much easier to get in and out overpriced but I WILL buy them again

Could someone please tell me what the distance is from the floor of the truck to the step? I have the fx4 package (not sure if that makes the truck taller) and this truck is tall! i can't figure out if i want the power step or the power step XL.

I have an FX4 also from the ground to the step its 15inches from the floorboard were the mats are to the board is 14inches, in my opinion, these boards are much better than factory forget that they move up and down that's just for the cool factor they are simply more user friendly in my opinion with the factory boards I would catch myself stepping over the board when getting out now I use it are they overpriced yes but I will buy them again on my next truck years from now (I hope) hope this helps if not ask again Mike
