I have a 2017 explorer sport with about 18,000 miles. Upon acceleration the engine jumps pretty bad, once you left off the gas and then reapply the gas it will usually stop and run fine. I have taken it to the dealer and they said they could not replicate the problem but it’s happening more often now. Also when you reach speeds about 55-60 mph, the engine wants to hesitate or skip. It’s pretty noticeable. However it only does this in about 5th or 6th gear. Once it downshifts it goes away. I’m going to take it back to the dealer however I don’t have great hopes of them finding anything. Any idea of what it could be?

Reason: Left something out
From your description it sounds like an ignition misfire. Typically when a misfire happens often enough to be noticed a diagnostic code will be set. I'd still suggest checking the condition of the spark plugs to see if one looks like it's burning differently than the others. If you find one that looks different, that doesn't necessarily mean the spark plug is the issue, it could also be an issue with an ignition coil, fuel injector, or something mechanical associated with that cylinder.
Also check the condition of the air filter and make sure all the intake air tubing is properly and securely connected. Did the issue happen to start shortly after some maintenance was performed or maybe shortly after you filled up with fuel?
