Ruger 10/22

What did you lose on your Marlin, and what model is it?

I have had several 10/22's and like them very well.

Ruger 10/22

what about the magazines
I lost the spring tube.
there's a tube under the barrel that holds the bullets
and there's a tube that slides inside of that tube and it has a spring in it that pushes the bullets to the chamber, thats the spring tube.
the spring tube comes out and you put the bullets in the other tube under the barrel and put the spring tube back in. I know it's in the yard somewhere.

it's a glenfield mod. 60

Ruger makes a good 10/22
I have one. The magazines can be inserted w/o pressing the magazine release
Clips can be changed rather fast
I've never had one jam and it shoots pretty accurate.

Ruger 10/22

you should be able to find a replacement part SOMEWHERE....

i just sold my 10/22 to my brother, payed 199 for it new a year ago, gave it to him for 140- i havent even shot the gun. i figure theres no sense in keeping it if im not using it.

i had a 10/22 before that, it never jammed, pretty accurate and light. for the price i think they are a great choice

find a replacement spring tube here.http://www.marlinfirearms.com/
The 10-22 is a great little rifle. The rotory mag holds 10 rounds and can be changed rather quickly with pratice. You can pick one up at Wal-mart for under 175 bux. There are many after market parts available for it too.

I have 2 30 round clips
You can find inline mini clips that hold 10 rounds on ebay or onine stores
I got 2 of those... They snap together, can flip and have 20 rounds at your fingertips. Very nice

My favorite was the Remington Nylon 66. It had the tube in the rear of the stock. You just dropped them in and pushed in the tube.

You'll find it next time you mow the yard. My son has the Ruger and likes it fine, especially the opticle sight - no problems.

Ruger 10/22

You can't go wrong with the 10-22 as far as I'm concerned. I have a 3x9 scope on mine and when I shoot, which is as often as possible, I have a blast. A friend has a pistol grip stock on his and it makes a pretty good difference in holding the rifle steady when just standing or kneeling, compared to the regular stock.

I'm not knocking the regular stock at all though. As someone else said before, there are a lot of aftermarket things you can get on-line or off, to add and make it an even funner rifle to plink or even hunt grouse with. I kinda like going for head shots on grouse.....makes it more sporting and less lead to eat later.

Ruger 10/22

The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most popular guns of all time, and for very good reason.

Shoots very well, accuracy out of the box is great given its low price, lots of aftermarket accessories availabe, reliable, can go through more rounds between cleanings than I'm willing to confess to. In all, I have probably put 4,000 rounds or more through my Ruger 10/22 in the 1.5 years I've had it. It was only the second gun I ever had (first was a 12 guage), and I started out babying it. Now, it's lucky if I find the time to clean after 750 rounds. Still shoots great, though.

The most popular modifications to this gun are:

(1) Extended magazine release lever. The stock one is effective, and I have learned/trained myself to operate it efficiently. However, use of the the inexpensive extended lever is a quicker & easier way, especially for those who are not yet fully trained to the gun.
(2) New bolt lock/release assembly. Locking the bolt in the open position & releasing it is a learned behavior. Kind of like knowing which way to turn your house key to lock the door vs. unlock it. This kit takes the guesswork out of the process.
(4) Bull Barrel. Helps turn this into a real tackdriver. Very accurage barrel, yet still not expensive compared to other firearms.
(5) Accurized trigger. Those who go through with this modification are usually doing some serious target shooting, in conjunction with a bull barrel. My Remington 700 LSS 7mm Rem Ultra Mag has an accurized trigger. Crisp, yet feather light. No creep, no travel. It might be fun to have the same on my 22, but overkill for the type of shooting it sees.

I've heard of guys build 22's that can shoot the "pecker" off a woodpecker at 200 yards with only $300 in modifications. Then again, my rifle is totally stock, and I love it the way it is. Accuracy is not a problem for me since I'm not trying to put 5 shots in the same hole -- 1 MOA is fine for me.

As a funny side story, I once lost a spring while cleaning my gun in preparation of taking it to the vacation house for some shooting. It jumped off gun, out the garage, into the driveway. It was dark, and even with a 1 million CP flashlight, I still couldn't find it. Called a contractor friend of mine with a 3 foot wide super magnet on wheels (used to clean-up jobsites) and told him I was on my way down to borrow it. Swept my entire 80 foot long driveway from head to toe, and found the spring dead in the middle, in a crack.

Also, getting rid of the gun because of a lost spring is a bad idea. Just get a replacement spring -- or sell the gun to me! Promise I'll give it a good home, with plenty of exercise.

My 10/22 is 3 years old, stainless steel. I've shot over 7000 rounds through it, and have cleaned it 3 times. A buddy of mine, has the non stainless steel model, and he cleans his about every 4th time we go shooting.

I had to replace the orignal stock, cause I found a crack in it, behind the bolt. Replaced it with a houge grip brand stock, from Cabelas. Nice rubber fell. Looks better too.
