Transmission snafu

I have a 99 econoline 250. I was checking for a transmission drain plug and found the tsb 99-14 sticker on the trans. It says 4r70w exchange program. However, here's the kicker... my window sticker physically states AODE. What's the deal with that? No work has ever been done to the transmission. I read a little about the tsb, but couldn't find anything on the AODE.

The last year the AODE was produced was 1995. After that it was all 4R70W. The window sticker people weren't updated.

The exchange program was to get any early failure transmissions back to engineering for analysis. That is why those programs always had an end date.

It does have an end date of something 2000. So you're saying the AODE on my window sticker is wrong and it's actually a 4r70w?

I thought 99 was awful late for the AODE

Yes, that's what I'm saying. The last year the AODE was made was 1995.

Great, thanks. Doesn't surprise me about the window sticker... I have a 96 f350 4x4 with a factory c6, and the door jamb says it should have a c4.

just got a new filter for the 4r70w and the only trans options were that or the 4r100 on their computer. From what I've read, that was behind the v8s
