351C heads.. 2V or 4V??

Hi All,

I came accross these heads which I believe are 351C heads.. they are a bit rusty.. and there are a few valves busted off in the guides..

The casting #'s are:

D4AE-AA

Also there was a pair of factory exhaust manifolds

D3AE-9431-AA
D2OE-6480-BA

Any insight on what I got?

With that port size, they are 2V heads. The casting ID identifies them as later (1974) 351C heads, with the AIR (smog) provisions. Nothing wrong with that, and they could be desireable to someone who's looking for an emissions-legal head option.

If the exhaust manifolds fit those heads, they are 351C manifolds (not 400 manifolds).

The casting number on the second one you listed should be D2OE-9430-BA. Exhaust manifold part numbers are 9430 (right) and 9431 (left).

just look in the outside corners of the head for a "2" or a "4" cast onto it. This will be on the top corner and outside of the valve cover area and will be a single digit.
The 4 means it is the 4 bbl head for the cleveland, and a "2" means it can be the 2 bbl cleveland or any other 2 bbl M block head.

351M/400 heads can also have an 'M' stamped in the corner or be blank.
