Fuel pump
i just got a 78 351m f250.it has been sitting for a few years, guy I got it from cleaned carb. My mechanical fuel pump started weeping gas so I put a new one on and now the truck isn’t running right. When it was leaking I could drive er pretty descent around yard. Now it will idle but if I give er to much gas it’ll die. What’s my next step?

Check fuel filter. If its ok, check line from pump back to the tank to make sure it's not clogged or sucking air. If that's ok, take the fuel line off of the carb,, stick the end into a plastic bottle and crank the engine.You should get good spurts of fuel. If not, you may have a defective pump.
