TS Performance 6 Posiiton How does it actually work?

Just installed a TS Performance 6 position chip in my 2000 7.3 PSD Excursion. Up until now I have been using a Superchips Flashpack tuner and alternating between Max Economy and Max Performance depending o the application. So far I've only driven a few miles but I really like the driving experience better with the TS Precision chip. However, I noticed something which got me to wondering how does the TS Performance Chip actually work. I have physical gauges for EGT and Water Temp but I use an old androd tablet and a bluetooth OBD dongle for everything else such as boost, engine oil temp and a bunch of other parameters. When I moved the TS chip from stock to the 50 HP setting I noticed that my boost readout immediately went from 3-4 PSI boost to 3-4 PSI Vacuum. Since diesels don't generate vacuum, or at least very little of it I assume that the TS chip is spoofing the intake manifold pressure to make the ECM keep the wastegate closed. Anyone know how the TS Performance chip actually works form a technical perspective?
