if going with the aftermarket Amp Power steps you must use the trucks OBD port. So if you do this, does this mean if you want to hook up something else to this port down the road then you
will need to unplug and plug in all the time the steps in order to use the port, or does it have a piggy back feature where you just plug in on top of it if you have something else.
Is there a way around using the OBD port for the steps?

I`m not sure if AMP has gone to one version now but they used to have another version, which was a little cheaper, and it had to be hard wired into the truck therefore leaving the OBD port open. There are OBD splitters so either way, you should be fine.
Do use caution when buying cheap splitters on Amazon. I tried the one linked below and it did not work with my AMP steps and CTS scanner.
I then spent the money and purchased the splitter from AMP directly and it did work. Not sure of the difference, or maybe the one I purchased was just junk, but the steps did not operate when used.
