I just posted about my Expy squeaking in the front end,,as I had the tires off,,I noticed grease all over the drivers side CV Boot,( found a hole in it), and some on the inner fender,, Now I was wondering , Is it possible to replace just the boot and how big of a job is it ????
The truck has about 108 k miles on it now, so was wondering if I should replace the the axle shaft with new boots already installed ?? I have not done this before, so would apprieciate anyones input on this topic.
I haven't done it either, but there have been a few discussions very recently on this topic and several agree that it is best to replace the entire shaft. You might try a search of the topic.
For the money, time and BLOOD to pull the thing apart, I would replace it with a rebuilt or new shaft. Also, don't try to reboot it yourself. Tried the same thing on a honda. What a fiasco! Almost got divoriced over my wifes displeasure over pulling apart her car.
Anyway, it has over 100 K on it, trust me, it is time.
