Neutral safety switch 74 f100
I am having issues with the neutral safety switch. First I needed a slight wiggle on the gear selector, then only started in reverse, now only in drive!
i have a new one with other items from lmc, but I want to take it to a show this week end. If it totally craps out does anyone know what wires to splice together to by pass it?
There are 4 wires pictured.
The switch is inside the truck

The NSS selector lever is either broken, or is missing.

The switch is located towards the bottom of the steering column.

Applications: 1965/77 F100/350.
This lever clips onto the shift tube thru a hole in the steering column shroud, has a knife blade end that pokes into the NSS
When the knife blade end snaps off (very common), the truck can be started in any gear.
CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 789 = 800-476-9653.

C7TZ-7A247-A .. NSS (Motorcraft SW-600) / Obsolete ~ Available NOS & from auto parts stores, so you don't have to buy it from LMC in KS and then pay shipping charges.

I believe the Red w Blue stripe wires are for the Ignition Switch and the Starter Motor Relay. The switch when working correctly completes that circuit when in Park and Neutral allowing the engine to start when the key is turned. Usually, when the ability to start "changes gears" it's because the adjustment of the switch on the column has changed (it has a certain amount of adjustment on the column) or the switch is wearing and going bad. The Black w Red stripe wires are for the reverse light circuit (12v power and reverse light connection) and is completed when the switch is in the reverse position (adjusted and working correctly). To bypass the switch, you should be able to tie together the two Red w Blue stripe wires. However, this will allow the truck to start in every gear whenever the key is turned to start. Both Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and Dennis Carpenter sell that switch for about 50 bucks. Hope this helps.
