Hey all. I have a 92 250 7.3idi E4od 4wd. I got the truck without a front drive shaft I have serviced the front diff and all is well inside I am not sure why someone would have removed the drive shaft but it’s not there. My question, do I have to use a 7.3 drive shaft or will a gasser f250 E4od driveshaft work for this truck? I have googled it but cant find any definitive answer.
A driveshaft is a driveshaft. I'd assume anything would work as long as the u-joint and yoke are rated for the load capacity. If the length doesn't fit well, have it sized and balanced.
I *think* the key is to have the shaft out of a pickup with the same front end and same transmission AND transfer case. Might not be an issue with the gassers but there are at least two transfer cases used in this era, I don't know squat about either of them, just read the forums too much, lol.
Unless, of course, they both use the same u joint size and are the same distance from the front yoke.( I just don't know for sure) My guess is most front shafts will fit if they are from a TTB like your 92.
Measuring is always good, tape measure for shaft and calipers on the u joint caps, unless you're some u joint Jedi master and can just look at them and know all things, lol.
