My old Mazda started leaking fuel out of where the filler tube goes into the gas tank due to a crack in one side down by the clamp. I removed the old clamp, put some seal all on it, wrapped it in thin gasket material and let it cure for several days with a new clamp on it. Now it doesn't want to fill and I'm stumped Any ideas what may have gone wrong? I tightened the clamp with a nut driver, not a ratchet and socket.

 

2001 Ranger that was like yours I replaced the rubber part and found the metal peace had rusted and some piece had lodged the valve in the tank.
