Bummer about the rebuilt motor getting the left to the elements. That's the same reason I started my engine rebuild. I just came across these pictures yesterday (I forgot I had) that show my starting point. Not sure about the bottom end but it looks like you had it worse than me on the top end.
I tore mine down and took it to a shop for the rebuild. My rebuild specs can be found in this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ectations.html, which I should go back and update.

your bottom end looks worse than mine. I had some oil in the pan that covered up my crank and mains, my top end was trashed. I am not going to use the heads. I found a 4x4 that had 1975 D2 heads and I bought the motor and I have a spare 390 block. I want to get a roller cam and lifters, aluminum heads, intake and a new 4v carb but the money budget will tell me what I can do.
