~opinions on upgrades~

hey im 17 and me and my dad have rebuilt my truck since i was 12 my truck is very nice now, every one in town is in love with it but i need somethin to keep the ladys on there toes. i was thinking of geting a underbody glow kit. you only see them on chinese cars but i think it would be diffrent and turn a coulple of heads on my old truck. also what could i do to make it stand oput a little more its already painted chrome red and has enough chrome to kill.

i cant upgrade my engine my dad is against giveing me enough power to kill my self, and i have duals but glass packs are not for me.

thanx

I've always felt that wheels/tires are the best upgrade. I don't know what you have now, and many folks prefer stock style wheels on these older trucks. I prefer shiny new wheels with slightly upsized tires, wether they are street or AT tires.

Go for the neon if you like that stuff. But, I'll have to draw the line if you put a big aluminum fin on the back :-)

Well it's hard to improve on a truck like that. If you want to get the girls attention you could try hanging a wad of hundred dollar bills from the mirror. or carry around a puppy or small horse. Girls love puppys and horses. Seriously you should ask a 17 year old girl, I don't have a clue what they like, but I am pretty sure it may be a handicap having something old.

haha no fins i agree, i just think that heck every one else thinks neon is cool but you dont see it on old classic trucks. i already have a good stick steering wheel, and chrome wheels, and my good ol bench seat is roll and tuck leather with my schools symbol (the mustangs) embroidered into the back of the seat. spray in bed liner. everything. im just looking for some cool new ideas.

and my parents wont let me get another dog. and the one i have knows better than to ride with me.

Consider LED's, strategically placed around the truck. Classier than neon, in my opinion. Low power draw, vibration and water proof and a ton of colours.

I figure that if you have the nicest truck on campus, and you have all the lights, chrome, horsepower, and 10,000 watts of power going to the best designed stereo system. If you can't make girls like you for who you are, then you might as well be driving a pee yellow pinto with 4 spare tires, listening to barry manilow.

for chicks get a good haircut, take a shower and brush your teeth.

for anice truck that is up to your own taste. personally I like the moderately lowered resto/mod look. I don't like extra lights on classics. i am going to get 17 inch wheels and a 3" front 4" rear drop then restore the body to stock less the chrome trim. Might shave the bumpers/door handles/gas filler, but that will be the extent of the body mods.

good luck with the ladies!!

I'm thinking of doing my truck without the chrome trim also. Have you read or heard any tips on filling the holes where the trim attachments used to be? I've heard it can be a problem.

I have welded up all the holes and used very little bondo on the scratches left by the grinder, but, if you don't have access to a welder, you could get away with using fiberglass for the bigger holes and bondo for the smaller holes. just make sure you follow the directions carefully! if the surface isn't prepped right the bondo wont stick. wal-mart has all the stuff you need to do that kind of body work, exept quality paint/primer. rattle can stuff will keep the rust away for a while, but it wont last very long.

Maybe a taunno (not a chance of spelling that right!) cover. They can really change the look of a truck. And brush your teeth!

What do you have for a stereo system? I know arround here the girls love a system that really HITS! I had buckets in my 67 with a custom center console with a bandpass 12" sub and I always had people looking behind the seat to try and find the "subs", its hit very very hard. I am changing my interior yet again so the console and buckets are up for grabs if anyones interested, I have pics. The console is even red and grey so it would match your truck.

Whatever you do, don't do too much from original.

I know I'm not a 17 yr old girl but I know many of them.

What kind of impression are you trying to make ?

Think of it this way:
You need to have something that is different from the rest of the kids because you are a special.

~The Truck ~

Original washed & wax look says : you get what you see & you are unique, and that should be good enough.
Plus, you show a lot of pride in anything you do.

Fancy dangles & lights means: You need lots of attention & you are always trying to impress someone with phony things.

that will get you:
number 1, A nice girl, mature for her age, but homely and probably plump, would make a good wife. Loyal to a fault.

Number 2 will get you all the shallow, fickle, what's hot at the moment, high maintenence hotties that you really want, but you will want to cut off your right nut to get rid of her after 6 weeks.

Moral of the story: Be yourself, Don't ever try to figure women out, Don't try to impress everybody with the bling bling, 'cause you'll run out of the "ca-ching" then you and your truck will be at home on a friday nite eating Cheetos.......
