Ignition timing advance issue

I have a 99 F250 Super Duty with a V10 I plug my scanner into it because it has no power when you put the motor under a load as in just trying to pass a car on the road trying to accelerate basically so I plug my scanner into it and I found that they spark Advance timing is normal at idle or just barely cruising or anytime there is no load whatsoever on the engine now if you try to accelerate any at all the advance drops down two to three and four degrees advance now for the really confusing part if you stick it to the floor and and the RPMs reach 4500 it's like a flip of a switch the spark Advance timing jumps to 36 degrees and you take off like a rocket but as soon as it shifts right back to the same problem spark Advance drops back to about 5 degrees and no power anyone have any idea of what could possibly be going on I will that the timing chain does need to be replaced because you can hear it rattling a little I've called Ford and of course all they want you to do is bring the truck in any help would be greatly appreciated also I have no check engine light no trouble codes

I'm not an expert on the V10, learned a little way back when I was thinking about getting one.

First, the noise you are hearing might be timing chain tensioners or cam phasers and not the timing chain.
Second, WOT blasts are probably not a good idea with that problem.

This probably does not have anything to do with your low power symptom, just would not want you to have a bigger problem.

The phasers can make noise and cause low power, but my understanding is that this will set engine codes; you say you have no codes.

My trucks in 99 it don't have cam phasers and I know the spark Advance not advancing for it should be is my cause of the low power I just don't know why it is doing that so basically my question is to anybody that might know what sensors control or help control the spark advance

I would take the front cover off and get the timing components replaced asap. The crank sensor and cam position sensor are what control your spark and fuel. If your timing chain is allowing variations in the cam position it could be causing these problems. When you do this, I would also replace the lash adjusters, they like to get gummed up and dont bleed off the way they are supposed to. One other thing to check, pull the crank position sensor out and try to move the tone wheel behind the sensor with a screwdriver. It should be solid but I have seen them get play in the key way and some completely break.

Ok, not real wise on the V10, but did you try cleaning your MAF? Maybe pull one of the O2 sensors? see if it runs better, maybe a clogged CAT? Also, Isn't the spark advance controlled by the PCM?

My bet is that your catalytic converter is clogged. Your engine cannot exhale!

It is free to test, just disconnect your exhaust at the Y Pipe, or disconnect your EGR. Give your backpressure someplace to go. Take your truck for a short ride. Your lost power will be restored if the clogged cat is the issue.

Timing issues may be my problem

A couple of days ago I jumped in my reliable, always starts, excursion. To find it turning over as if the battery was low, it started briefly then died, I tried it again and it started right up. I ran a couple of errands, had the same dragging starter problem and when it started it made some noise and snapped the serpentine belt.

Now, after replacing the belt it still had the same issue, it felt like the timing was too far advanced but the way the starter was grinding I replaced it. It had become fairly hot from trying to start so I went on with the replacement.

Still having a problem with it, engine will not turn at all now, sometimes part of a turn and there is a clank when the starter tries to engage.
