Hello, I have an 83 F250. Not all the time, but a lot of the time my transfer case makes a grinding noise. It happens whenever I move it, either from 2 to 4 lo, or 4lo to 4hi. It dosn't matter. I always have to cut my truck off and change then turn it back on. It could be, I'm doing something wrong. I usually just put it in nuetral then put it down into 4 wheel drive, then get out and lock the hubs. but if there is another way i should be doing it , please tell me. thanks for the help
Even when the transmission is in neutral it will still turn. So when you shift the T-case and if you leave it in the neutral position for too long it will start to spin too. If this is the problem just getting it down into 4-lo a little quicker should do the trick. Good luck with it!
