How long will high temp powder coat last on headers?

Just curious if anyone has had their headers powder coated and what their results were like? Color changing? Peeling? Flaking? Igniting into an infernal and raining hell upon you?

I went around town looking for someone to blast some headers I pulled out of a JY, so that I could spray some high temp paint myself for a cheap set of headers on a vehicle that is more about experimenting and having fun than being anything I'd be overly picky about. The only guys I found that would do it for me also do spray on bed liners and powder coating.

Needless to say, the guy I talked to convinced me to go ahead and let them powder coat them after they blasted them. If it lasts, great, if not, I'm not too worried about it! I think they turned out pretty good, we'll see what happens in the coming weeks once I get them on. Any bets on how long it lasts?

Before and After shots. They're for a 351M, going on my 78 Bronco.

So, how long did it last, if you ever got them on? Or did you go up in flames and that's why you never updated?
I know that this is an old post guys

The obvious answer is it all turned to grey dust quickly. Powder coat will not work on headers. I had mine done in Jet Hot and it was more than ceramic coating. So far 8 years and no discoloration. I believe it was 800 back then to have the headers done.

Here’s a pic of mine. I had these coated at M&R Coatings around 2 years ago and they still look like the day I picked them up. But definitely isn’t powder coated!

Forgot I posted this. You guys sure are skeptical, aren't you? I no longer have the headers, but that's because I sold the engine a few months ago.

Here they are hanging low, sweet chariot.

The powder coat actually did just fine with the heat. The only problem I had, if you want to call it a problem as it was more of an inevitability, is that I was literally hitting them on rocks while crawling off road and that of course would chip them. I don't have a good pic of them prior to being sold, but I do have a pic. I got them bathed in very watery mud and it baked on as well, but right before I sold everything I pressure washed them and they were fine minus the chips. You'll have to take my word on it.

Actually, the high temp powder coat worked so well for me that I had my 460's old, ceramic coated headers blasted and powder coated.

But wait, there's more! I had two sets of factory 460 manifolds blasted and coated. I installed one set on a 460 that I put into my Bronco.

I realize that high temp powder coat isn't for everyone, but for half the cost of your $800 eight year old jet hot coating I was able to have two sets of headers and two sets of manifolds blasted and coated. I will give a further update on how these manifolds hold up. I'm expecting the red rattle can paint on the heads near the exhaust ports to fade long before the powder coat does.

Also, you'll notice this is a different username. lol. FTE's staff was 100% unresponsive to my calls for help with my old username as I was locked out of it somehow, so I made a new name. Anyway, yes, this is the OP!!
