So my 2012 F-250 is an XLT Premium but doesn't have the in dash nav system which I would love to have along with the backup camera. Is it possible to get the dash parts and associated control modules through recycling yards and retrofit my truck with that system? Has anyone ever done that type of mod? I would love to have the better in dash screen in the cluster as well? Has anyone ever swapped out their low end cluster with the higher end one with the LCD and if so what did it take to do it?
honestly go aftermarket. It will cheaper and easier than going through salvage yards and the like. MY 2011 250 XLT was a prem pkg. MY 2016 350 XLT also prem package. I wound up replacing the radio with a Pioneer head. I got Android Auto (or car play for the apple users) SXM and an OEM tailgate camera functions in the new head. My installer made it look factory with the some of the media inputs like USB and aux jack. If you get OEM factoy parts you are going to have Ford My Touch and Ford nav package from that model year. Traffic will most likely require the SXM data package for traffic and weather to update route timesand traffic. Personally, I prefer the AA app for real time traffic since Google updates it constantly. My wife loves AA in her car and when I got the truck, I knew it had to be there for functionality.
