Ford transmission trouble
2008 fx4 with 128000 Mile....hello all I'm on a tight spot with this one.It started out when I dropped it on drive and it engaged then quickly disengaged. Had to take off in second then go-to drive and all was well.No codes no lights came on.Now it downshifting when I let off gas in drive and will downshift for a second and then shift back up.Changed the filter and fluid when this started and checked it again after and the fluid is black.So is this electrical that caused the tranny to tank or mechanical.Will be pulling and rebuilding soon.

I don't know that transmission too well, but usually when in Drive and starting out the locking element is a sprag or roller clutch in some and that could be ruined by reving the engine and dropping into drive. In Low that is most usually a band and by passes the sprag, so does Low work?
