New Excursion Owner

Hey All,
Picked up a 2005 Ford Excursion 2wd 6.8L XLT/SSV a couple months back. It has about 105k miles on it. From my research I believe it was perhaps a city vehicle out of Costa Mesa, CA. Found a business card in it for the head football coach from Orange Coast College. Might have been use for sports or something. They liked their coffee and sunflower seeds lol. So far I have painted the steelies black and got black center caps. I have also changed the mirrors to the 08 model. It did not have a center console so I added one of those as well. In the middle of doing a spark plug (Motorcraft) change with boots (Denzo) although the boots look fine, I'll do them anyway. The dealer I bought it from had a bunch of front end work done - pretty much all the steering, some bushings, and shocks. Rear shocks are original so I ordered up some Bilsteins (all 4). They are back ordered so should have them first of July I hope. I did have a question (couldn't find anything in the manual or online). Are the doors supposed to unlock when you put it in park or open the drivers door? They do auto lock once you start driving. Gets irritating when I get out and try to open the rear door and it's locked. My other ford's unlock when you open the door. Here is a couple pics before/after.

Nice looking Ex, good luck with it. I don't believe the Ex doors unlock when you put in in park like some of their other models, mine do not, you have to do it yourself. Looking forward to your future upgrades. Welcome to the Club.

Thanks for the reply. I was really hoping something was wrong and I could just fix it. It's soo annoying getting out going to the back door to get my son out and its locked lol. Time to train my brain.

Thanks for all the replies. Autolock is good, was looking to see if we have an auto-unlock feature - which I guess we don't have.

just turn autolock off. ( I did because it drives me nuts )

The whole point to autolock is parking lot safety, If auto lock were to unlock when you put it in park that would sorta defeat the purpose of autolocking them.
