Increasing tire width creates more stress on spindles in my experience; even a 12.50 x 33 will tend break a spindle quicker than a narrower tire. I prefer a tall narrow tire.

How do the Dana 44 spindles compare to the Dana 60 spindles, in terms of size i.e. diameter? I have never heard of anyone breaking a Dana 44 spindle, I am sure it's possible, anything can break if abused, I just never heard of such a case.

For me it was daily driving 16 miles of wash boarded & rocky road at 25- 35 mph for a couple of years; maybe it was an exception.
