what is the largest tire suggested to run on a dana 44 front axle? im constantly breaking axle shafts and u joints

In my opinion you shouldn't run over 35s.

I would agree with that. I think 35s are for the most part okay with a d44, but with 38s it will just be a matter of time before breakage. Of course, you can always put in beefier aftermarket shafts and u-joints if you've gotta run the 38s on a 44 and, like the rest of us, can't find/afford a front 60.

If your knuckles ain't bleeding you did something wrong.

I run 36s with my dana 44 front. It seems to be alright so far. I broke one of the axles last year only because I hit a 18 inch cement wall that was buried in snow.
