"Drive Mode Unavailable"

After buying fuel this afternoon, I restarted the truck and wanted to go in to Tow/Haul Mode. Pressing the DM button on the shifter the dash display showed "Drive Mode Unavailable". I drove the truck for a mile or 2 and it still wouldn't allow me to change modes. I finally pulled over, shut the truck off and restarted. It worked as it should afterwards.

Truck is a 2018 3.5l Ecoboost.

Any thoughts?

I haven't yet seen this discussed regarding an F150, but there is lots of forum discussion about same issue (DM unavailable) with other Ford models. I believe it's similar to when engine start/stop temporarily does not function due to 'vehicle charging'. When the battery gets below a certain charge level (due to perhaps driving a number of short trips around town), a few of the features will indeed become unavailable. They will all return to normal once battery is at full charge after some highway driving.

Thank you for the reply. I'll have to pay attention to the circumstance if it happens again. I had only driven about 3 miles from home to the gas station before it happened.
