So I will need to give the backstory on this or a lot will think I'm crazy, I'm sure. Originally, I bought a 1979 f150 4x4 with a 400 in it. I was going to restore this truck and pulled it all the way down to the frame. I am having some issues getting the title work cleared because the po didn't title it. So I have the blue title which was signed over to him. The state wants me to either have him title it pay taxes and transfer or go back to original owner and then transfer to me. Both of those choices are appearing problematic. I'll get it worked out eventually. Meanwhile I was looking for a parts truck and came across a really clean 1979 F250 rwd truck with a 460. Well, I have clear title on that one and it's actually in better condition so I've decided to build the 2wd instead. My 400 is already in the machine shop and I've ordered all the parts from Tmeyer already. So, I will be putting the 400 in this truck instead. I did a search on here and it's usually people going from 400-460 not the other way around. The only mod I read was having to enlarge a hole in the mounting bracket. I would assume that would have to be done going down to the 400 as well. Anyone know what all this entails?
i would just get a set of the 351/400 engine perches. The bell housing will bolt up, as should everything else, but you will need a set of engine perches.
I have the perches in the F150..... I need to take a closer look tonight, but I thought they were riveted. If they are bolted, I guess easiest would be to swap those perches since I plan to put the 460 in the 4x4 and putting it back together to sell.

Use the perches and mounts from the f150. They're probably riveted. You'll have to torch or grind them out, then just bolt them in the other truck.
Actually, on second thought, the 2wd and 4wd frames might be different. Not sure if that will work or not. Hopefully someone else will chime in and actually read your post to understand what you're trying to do.
You will probably need the perches out of a 2wd with 351M/400.
As far as your title situation goes, it's probably worth it to pay for the guys taxes and title to get that straightened out. I wouldn't wait too long either. People move or pass away.

4WD engine supports are different, there's no cross member to bolt them to, they bolt to the inner frame rails.
351M/400 2WD perches are the same as F100/150 302 (see post #4).
Sooooooo that looks complicated to me. Is it part 6029 that I need with the appropriate motor mount? Do I need a different rear engine support?
All the numbers you see in parts catalog illustrations, are only the basic part numbers. The text section of the catalog is required to get the complete part number by adding the apropos prefix and suffix.
For example, the right & left engine steel/rubber mounts are basic part number 6038. The compete 351M/400 2WD/4WD part number is D7TZ-6038-ARightD7TZ-6038-BLeft.
I'm crazy too I think I'm going to change from a tired 351Measly, to a 300 I6, my last 79 F250 4x4 I rplcd the 300 with an 89 300, 4bbl, drove it to MO for my BIL who I sold it to, and avg. 18 mpg for 1800 miles not super fast, wouldn't win any races, but dead reliable and perfect for 4 wheeling, hunting and wood cutting.
