Looking for a set of used stock wheels for my '51 F1. New ones appear to be in the $80-$90 price range. Two on my truck are out of round. Any suggestions? Thanks.
To my experience, if you can find new reproduction F-1 wheels for that amount you should buy them. I know that one of the better repop companies, Wheel Vintiques in CA, charges $120 each for their repops.
Anybody that has good used wheels is gonna have to charge most of that amount for them, then you get to pay shipping. I see that you live in OR, so you might be able to get in your car and go do your own yard searches. But depending on where in OR you live I know from my own searches around Portland that two nice yards closed there in recent years crushing everything. Yards out in the eastern and southern parts of OR would be more likely to have what you need. Stu
Stock 4 1/2 x 16 wheels are on the "Great Summer of 2018 Parts Safari "list . Have 2 new yards to recon next week . Someone came into one yard where we have gotten a lot of parts since '91 and bought all the 16" wheels from nearly 30 trucks for $40.00 ea.I know we will find some . A stock '51-'52 ribbed rear bumper has been removed at one yard & is awaiting to be picked up . May find some more .
You’re making my point, Denney. Years ago I walked away from a yard operator wanting $40 for an F-1 wheel, but today that’s a deal - no doubt agreed to because the guy was buying all wheels from 30 trucks. Also, depending on where you live, that $40 (likely more for the guy buying just one set) gets an extra $10-$20 charge per tire for removal and recycling. Pretty soon that $80 repop starts to look pretty good. Stu
I found 3 more 16" wheels today.
add on top of the other things metioned above is after have the old tires dismounted is finding out how much rust is inside. Ive had a few that where garbage after hauling them home and paying dismount to find out its toast.
That said I have sold quite a few sets a couple years ago for I think about 3 to 400 for a good set.

I’ll ditto that. The outside generally will let you know if the inside is okay, but not always. I’ve got a few that are junk like that sitting in the shop and barn. Stu
