Outside Courtesy Lights

I have a few led's layingvaround, and while looking over the truck, i thought about mounting a few along the drip rail under the doors. Wanting them to come on with keyfob or doors open, i find that i need to tap into the blk/lt blu wire. My trucks a Lariat, should there not be a harness already there, for the running board courtesy lights?

When do they go on/off? When I unlock my truck with my aftermarket alarm my interior lights go on. That would be a nice mod to have those put on and have them turn on with the interior lights..

Where did you access the wires to tap in?

Wire loom run'n down driver side. Spliced into wire and soldered a "lead". From there just branched out..heatshrinked and hot glued everything...gotta invest in better led's. Got the disco inferno happening on 2 of them.

It runs under the sill plate, inside the cab, not under the running board.

My power steps have leds in that are mounted in the area you mentioned and they are tapped into a wire in the lower door sill inside the truck and my alarm hits the the same area of the harness for its interior light activation. Sorry for giving different info on you post but it is a good protected area for tapping into wires.

I have now got LEDS in all three dome lights front center and back and my car looks amazing at night! I also put 2 feet of 5050 white led's in the dashboard and remove the stock bulbs changing my gauges to blue. I will be scraping the blue off eventually and installing RGB led strip in there.they looks good.
