Purchase advice 2001 Excursion
1) Tom, you need to check out places on the Cumberland River or Dale Hollow lake Celina, TN area
2) OP, I'm in Westmoreland TN if you need a hand and it's closer for me than you
...ok....3 things...
3) Tom,, you really should have made plans to come this way...not cool.

Hopefully it's still three hours South for the same reason.
I like everywhere that we've been in NC too, the National Whitewater Center just outside of Charlotte is very cool!
And of course, the Outer Banks are a special kind of place too.I even looked at your profile info, but between when I looked and typed my rusty brain translated NC into TN, I've had TN on my mind a lot recently.

And of course, the Outer Banks are a special kind of place too.I ran into Elvis when I was getting gas in Memphis.
It appears Elvis works as a cashier in a convenience store now.
He even said Thank You Very Much after I paid him.
I chuckled for about 20 miles
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
That would have my best and first selfie :-)
Motorhome was a 1985 that I gutted and restored 454 ran perfect from west coast to NC top speed 61 a few going down a hills.
It never overheated and used 1 quart of oil.
We sold it for more than I had in it. It was cold the first winter and a little small inside so we got a larger RV
Truck was a like new Chevy Silverado we sold it because it was a Chevy.
Ran great as long as you didn't get in a water puddle, mud, or snow.
Had it from brand new and I had to use my jeep to pull it out of mud more times than I can remember.
What are your thoughts
I week ago I was shopping for an Expedition. They were expensive and a little lighter duty than I think I need.
I have changed my research to the Excursion.
I would prefer a nice truck but I have to sell my wife's current SUV because we would not have room for 3 vehicles
The choice is to replace the SUV with a larger one or sell my jeep for a truck so SUV will be sold
I have found a nice condition 2001 4X4 but high miles $3500
190,000 on the truck 140,000 on the V10
We will only use it as a grocery getter, and to pull a 5200lb RV trailer and a larger flat bed trailer but maybe once every few months and not very far
We are only expecting to get 2 or 3 years from it when we will no longer need the RV and trailer
This looks like the rig you posted about .
I too am beginning to look for an X, and it showed up in my search.

The seller seems to be a nice person.
I started looking at expeditions and felt they were to small so I looked in the excursions.
The things that concerned me were about the issues that the triton engines were having I did not want to worry about plugs blowing out or some of the other issues.
As for this one it was a 3 hour drive and he said he had someone else that was also interested.
This excursion is priced very low but looks nice so you would think it would have been sold quickly . It has been craigslist a long time and I was concerned why it had not sold already.
I was thinking maybe rust issues but I never looked at this one.
There were 2 others I did look at and they were priced a lot higher that had a lot of bad frame rust.
Also I first thought the seller said the engine had been changed but it turned out it was the tranny that had been replaced.
I think a truck is going to be a better fit for me and I really want a classic ford pre triton motors.
If you do buy this post back good luck
So am not making that trip without 100% confidence in the vehicle.
I have to question why it's so cheap and why it's been for sale for so long.
I may drop him an email out of curiosity tjo...
I have been out of the Blue Oval game for quite a while... Since my 92 F-150 (that may still be in my signature).
My last two trucks have worn Bowties (a 96 and currently an 06 Suburban) which I have been happy with, but have always admired the X as the ultimate tow rig and family hauler.
(I've got an 02 GTI as a commuter and the wife has a Saturn Outlook; soon to be replaced with an Audi A4 Avant.)
I stimbstu across an X locally for a great price, but it was gone before I could even look at it.
Which got me thinking again...
I have severe project vehicle ADD.

My favorites were my very first truck a 1960 F100 custom cab big back window 292 v8 with auto transmission
next one was a 1976 f250 4x4 highboy
A 1974 f250 Ranger XLT another great truck.
I had a few other non fords and went back to a new 1999 F250 Lariat 5.4 v8 very nice truck but I sold it at 100,000 miles due to the warranty expire it had a 100,000 mile power train warranty.
It had a lot of work done during the warranty period
I would love to get another 74 or 76 F250 Ranger XLT 4x4
