Got a 84 F150 at work with what appears to be a 302, factory AC, ps, pb, cruise. But it has a 4V carb on it. I was looking at it and haven't checked my 82 yet but was curious for someone switching to a 4V carb besides extending the C6 kick down rod with the Holley extender, what would one have to do to get the throttle cable and the cruise control attached properly?
Going with an Edelbrock intake it has the throttle bracket mounted in one place and I just started thinking about mine and wondering how would one adjust the cable and bead chain to function properly with the summit 4V I am wanting to run.
They make kits that help adapt things over for each type of carb. But there is still usually some fiddling and fabrication involved to get it all working correctly. When I swapped a 351w in place of a 302, I re-used the 302 throttle bracket and throttle cable. But of course it didn't fit, so I had to make a small metal plate that bolted to the 351w intake holes, and then drilled new holes in the plate to move the 302 bracket and cable to the proper place.
You have some adjustment in your cruise anyway correct?

im going to check my truck when i get home from work. There is an adapter to make the factory throttle cable fit the edelbrock manifold but i dont thin its for adjudtment as much as to convert a 2 bolt throttle bracket to a 3 bolt.
aside from that i want to say my ball chain is seperate from the throttle cable where as this 84 has it made into the end.
i guess my biggest concern is not enough spring pressure on the theottle and the cable pulling my gas pedal up higher which i dont want as im 6ft 1in tall and there isnt much floor space for me as it is.
