Okay here is a question from a super novice and a woman too. So bear with me.
I recently purchased a late 80's F250 6.9 diesel w/a Bank turbo, automatic. Use it to haul a two horse trailer. I have only had gas engine trucks previously so I know very little about diesels.
A friend tells me I may have a bad head gasket. Now for the question - How do you tell. I don't see any leaks, the truck runs like a top. Nobody found anything wrong when I had it checked out but what should I be looking for just in case.
first off let me say
welcome to the world of diesels
there are a number of signs one is testing your oil
another is take the cap off the radiator and see If you got a lot of air bubbles coming up
another is oil in the antifreeze (most of the time this is a bad oil cooler)
or antifreeze seeping out of the head
hopefully this helps
