Guys...and gals too, what do the terms 'bonus built' and 'express bed' mean? A guy on CL referred to a truck bed as the latter and I've seen the former a few times on forums and elsewhere. Are these just marketing terms? Thanks for indulging my ignorance.
On the 48-52 era trucks the Express bed is the 8’ bed unique to the F-2 and F-3 pickup bodied models. The term “Bonus Built” I believe technically was only used in marketing the 1948 to 1950 trucks. Over time it has morphed to include the 51/52 trucks. Going over my 51/52 sale literature there was no similar term used to apply to the whole product line-up. The was a lot of marketing using the term “Economy”, with Scottish plaid graphics to show frugality. New for 51 and 52 were a base level trim package, called the “5 Star”, and deluxe level package called the “5 Star Extra”. Stu
