I just purchased a 1987 F700 to use as a water truck on our farm. The speedometer is stuck in low range and reading in the service manual the speedometer adaptor is spring set in low range and electric shift into high range. My questions is where is this located? I have looked on the transmission where the speed sensor is and I have the cluster pulled out. I am not seeing anything that looks like the adaptor and the book is not much help since it does not show the wire colors.

bigblockford_390, be interested to see a picture of your speedo assembly...
What would I be looking at on the speedo assembly? I have 4 wires going into it like the book says but the factory Ford manual does not show wire colors so its kind of hard to trace to out. Is the speedo adaptor built into the speedo assembly? I have searched all over the under side of dash and even under truck from transmission to cab and cannot find it. The speedo is way off like it is stuck in low range.
