Ok this has probably been asked b4 just climed under my f350 to see what diff ratio are under it and the tags are gone and i dont know what ratio it has dose any one know what it should have
it is a 5ltr efi windsor with a 4 speed manual and is 4x4 non duelie just trying to work out how many revs it will be doing at 110km/h about (70miles/h)
thx in advance
Being Austrailian, that might explain the 5 liter engine in a f350. Ford did install our 302 in the lighter duty f250's which is somewhat interesting in itself. I always felt the 302 was a bit too small for the f150.
If the numbers are going to do no good, and you do not have the tags, the only sure fire way I know is to jack up both rear tires, and get someone to help you turn both rear tires 1 revolution, while watching the driveshaft(you might want to mark the shaft).
Over here, the most common ratios for 4x4 f350's are a 3.55 or a 4.10. So when you turn both tires 1 turn, and the shaft turns about 3 1/2 turns, you know you have a 3.55. If it turns 4 turns, you know you have a 4.10. I believe they did have a 4.56 and the 2wd trucks had some lower ratios, like a 3.08 which would be 3 turns of the driveshaft.
Over here, the 300 six is called a 4.9 liter, and the 302 is called a 5.0 liter. The 351w is called a 5.8 liter. Just in case you are reading something from over here and get confused.
I will mark the rail shaft tonight and look and yes this 350 was factory with the 302 i believe that is why it has the 4 speed and was not aware that u guys did not put it in the bigger trucks so as for diff ratios it could have any thing in it thx for the help
