My cargo light does not work on my 91 F250. Bulb appears good and nothing burned. I have put the LED cargo light on my other trucks and like them. The LED cargo lights do not seem to be available for the 1991 model. They start at year 1992. What is the difference or is it just the size of the light. The 91 has a much smaller length light than the newer ones. Thanks in advance. Sandy

Hey Sandy. I too have a 91 and I didn't think mine worked for the longest time either. I thought it was supposed to come on when opening the door but just assumed it was a burned out bulb that eventually one day I would get to.
One night my son was playing in the truck as I was taking something out of the bed and I seen it come on. I asked him what he did. Turns out the only time mine comes on is when you turn the dome light on.
Seems to me like a typical bulb size for the cargo lamp however I can't think of that number off the top of my head. I do recall seeing this perticular bulb in LED though.

I was really wanting brighter braking lights, so I am going with the tailgate light bar. Thanks for the info if it doesn't work out. Sandy
If it's the same housing that's on my dad's '87, I put an LED 921 bulb in there. I used a red bulb, tied it into the brake switch, deleted a diode from the harness that tied it into the dome light, and installed a couple of overkill LED lights on the lumber rack for proper bed lighting.
And yeah, I was looking all over for the bed light switch until I found out it was part of the headlight switch!
Why not just add a factory 3rd brake light then.
I put one in my 1980 truck.
Just got one from a 94-97 f-series.
Cut the hole in the back of the cab.
BOOM, 3rd brake light AND cargo light
