2010 f350 crewcab dually 99000 miles just bought 6 months ago while pulling my trailer lost power an went into limp mode and wont come out only code 0088 is fuel pressure rail to high also when changing my oil just prior to towing ihad my oil pan over flow which should have been big enough for 16qts of oil. it wasfull and running out the spout all over driveway seemed like 20 qts of fluid oil change was about 6000 miles
Sounds like your HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) isn't happy. Have you changed the fuel filters yet? Hopefully you can get lucky and that fixes it. If you see metal shavings in the filters, bad news. The alternative is HPFP going out and your wallet will suffer. It is a cab-off job and will set you back anywhere from $3,000-10,000, depending on if any metal shavings have been circulated. This would require the whole fuel system to be replaced, including the injectors. If no metal shavings, you might be able to get by with only replacing the pump, which is still cab-off. Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have gotten some contaminated fuel, which can cause fuel system failure.
as for the oil "growing," you have fuel dilution. It is likely related to your HPFP problem. If you get lucky and it's just bad fuel filters, there's a few places fuel can getting into your oil. During regen, some of the unburned fuel seeps past the piston rings. If you have an issue with your DPF (diesel particulate filter) it can cause excessive regens and fuel dilution. The fuel cooler, injectors and/or HPFP are also prone to leaking fuel directly into the oil. If you can resolve the P0088 problem without surgery, I'd recommend shortening your oil change interval until you figure out the source of the fuel dilution. The valvetrain will wear out much faster with diluted oil.
P0088 is usually set because the VCV can no longer control the fuel pressure as required. The fix is a new HPFP. The VCV is built into the HPFP.
As far as oil growth is concerned, you have a truck that goes into regen periodically and this can cause grow if the motor is not being worked or is shut down during this cleaning cycle.
The fix is knowing when you are regening so as not to shut it down Also move your oil changes to 5K max and that will help as well.
