Hi all,
When I bought my 08 F250 with a 6.4l diesel the cruise didn't work. I searched this site and a few other looking for reasons why. I have checked everything I read as a possible cause but with no luck. The dash light does not come on when the key is turn on so I'm thinking that it may have been turned off in the computer. Is this a possibility and if so is the dealer the only one that can access the computer?
Could be something as simple as a switch. You should have a on/off switch and a set/accel/resume switches. When turned on the dash light should be amber. Once set it would turn green. The cruise needs to sense the truck is in drive, speed around 30mph, and the brakes are not applied. If either of those sensors are not working then cruise won't work. My guess? It will be the on/off switch on steering wheel or the clockspring behind the steering wheel. Good luck...
I considered the clockspring as I do occasionally have issues with my steering wheel volume controls but because I didn't have the dash light turn on when key on and that I have a A/M radio I started leaning toward it being turned off in the computer.
