HD tow package

I have the oem HD tow package 99' 150 5.4
trans cooler b&m , looking to put a trans cooler fan on a switch.
Is anyone running something similar or have a recommendation?
I called b&m tech support, said any good fan will work, called summit said basically the same thing but did recommend a smallish fan , 2200 cfm, googled reviews =not so good.
Thanks in advance.

I use a 8" fan that covers most of the core. as mounted in front of the A/C condenser..
Install the aux cooler in the return line and do not reduce line size.
Install an adjustable thermostat mounted on the feed line form the trans to the 'radiator cooler 'top line' set at about 185 degrees.
Power it full time through a fuse.
Below thermostat setting it does not run.
This offers side benefits of automatic operation and will keep the engine bay temperature from rising above about 200 degrees after shut down. by venting the engine bay.
In ambient temps over 90 the fan will run about 5 to 8 minutes after shut down..
This helps save ignition coils from excessive temps and saves rubber parts from getting hard over the long term.
My installation has been in 14 years.
The motor has 281,600 miles at present time.

Thanks B7, my aux cooler is eom located low behind radiator, you are saying, mount the fan in front of the radiator?

I assumed your cooler was in front of the radiator.
This is the basis of engine bay cooling in addition to cooling the trans fluid.
Take a good look to be sure your cooler is for the trans and not the power steering.
I use a 10 x 10 cooler mounted out front the radiator\condenser area with an 8" fan as described mounted in front the cooler.
It gets air pulled by the big fan plus the small one when the thermostat kicks the small fan on when under low road speeds.

Just looked more closely, 8 x10 trans cooler mounted to passenger side lower radiator support at a slight angle forward, approximately 4x8 in. power steering cooler driver side next to trans cooler,
not sure I'm understanding how putting a fan in front of the radiator is going help my trans cooler?

Mickey, what don't you understand about mounting a Fan in front of the Aux cooler no matter where the cooler is mounted.
I explained the possible benefit of having one in front of the radiator.
Did I waist my time?

Nope, not a waste of time, thank you for explaining, I will find a good 8-10" fan and wire it in, thermostat sounds really good but I will keep it simple with a switch on the dash.

Can I measure transmission temperature from OBD2? Or should I install a sensor-reader? BTW, I installed a 10" square aux cooler for towing years ago but never paid attention to temperature. 97 4.2 auto.
