As far as I know it ran well on the 289 but it had a cam in it as well as it was bored over .40.

The block-off plate that you need, along with fuel, throttle and transmission connection pieces are all available from Edelbrock and possibly from Summit.
I bought everything from Summit except the choke heater block-off plate which came with my Edelbrock manifold.
