Which brand of short antenna did you guys use? I ordered one but it's only 3 inches long. Woops.

I replaced the stock 31'' antenna with this one so it wouldn't bang the top of the garage door. No noticeable loss in reception.

There's a bunch on Amazon. I think Stubby was the original, but they come in all flavors and styles these days. Check reviews on FakeSpot.com for anything on Amazon to ensure they are legit

I just installed this one

no loss of reception and looks awesome. But you do lose the heads up that low clearance is ahead... but I’ll just stay out of the garage

I had a rubber stubby antenna. It didn't come home from the car wash one day. After that, I used a suggestion from this forum. I pulled the ball from the top of my stock antenna. I cut it down to a length that doesn't bang the garage door opening and then glued the ball back to the top of the antenna. Same reception, no annoying twang on my garage door and no cost for the mod.
And personally I thought the rubber stubby looked a little goofy. Kind of a blessing that it didn't come home from a vacation car wash.

LOL. Nice.
I went ahead and used the 3 incher. Apparently it's true. It's not the size but it's how you use it. Works great.

I was about to change mine out to a short antenna as well but I like the early clearance warning the factory one gives me. I always take the antenna off before running it though a mechanical car wash but I'm not sure if its really necessary. I luckily have a place beside my office that's only $25 to hand wash and they do a much better job than the old Scratch-o-matic so I don't run it through the other wash often.

Any idea which thread. Did a search and could not find it. Was there any special trick to this so as not to ruin it?. I would rather modify the antenna I already have than buy a new one.
