You're attempting to drag others of us along into no man's land with you but we ain't going!! buhbye now!!
Sync has always been a giant PITA. It works, it doesn't work, it half-azzed works. I'm on my 2nd truck with it & still it sux. I long ago quit trying to use a phone with it, it's more distracting than just using the phone while I'm driving. iPhones have been particularly affected as far back as I can remember. It got so bad that Ford even deleted the Sync forum it used to have.

Microsoft's Sync was crap. It has been replaced in 3.0 running on a Blackberry OS and is still crap. Your issue is just par for the course. There's nothing to be done other than keep updated firmware and hope for an eventual fix. I had Sync in two different vehicles and was ecstatic when I found my current truck without it. Unfortunately, Ford wants to put Sync in everything. When it comes time to replace my pickup, one of the first projects will be to replace all the audio components and remove Sync's functionality.

The one thing I like about Sync in my current truck is the notification of an incoming text. And it reads it to me. That part of the system has never failed me. It drops the phone all the time but text stuff works great.
And I've never understood why it's so hard for Sync to turn on to the station it was turned off at. It often just picks a station at random, even nonbroadcasting frequencies, when turned on.
